Rugged
Mil Std 810 Construction/ Ultra Compact size
The Aviator series are the world's only airband transceivers
that are rugged enough to pass stringent MIL-STD 810 testing.
The durable high impact housing and unique clam shell chassis
assures reliable performance even under the most adverse operating
conditions. And Yaesu's extensive rubber gasketing system around
the housing seams, keypad, knobs, microphone jacks and speaker
grill insures that the Yaesu "Aviator" sets a new
standard for water resistance among airband transceivers available

300 Memory Channels
The Aviator handheld transceivers have the ability to store
up to 50 regular memory channels. The Aviator also comes pre-programmed
with 250 Book memories (the most frequently used airband frequencies).
Each memory channel can contain frequency, channel number, and
Alpha Numeric title (up to 8 characters). In addition all of
the Aviator's memory channels can be PC programmed with the
optional CT-64 programming kit. 5Watts
Transmit Power
The Aviator transmits at a powerful 5 watts P.E.P. (at 9.6 V
/ 5 W typ., 1.5W carrier) out of the box. And it's loud, crystal
clear transmit audioplaces its performance above that of any
other handheld airband transceiver.
Automatic Active Weather Channel Locator (U.S.A. version
only)
The Aviator receives all 10 weather report broadcast channels
from the NOAA. To make operation easier the Aviator will automatically
begin scanning when the weather band is activated and find the
closest NOAA weather station. If more than one station is available
in your area you can simply press the PTT switch momentarily
and the aviator will find any other active NOAA weather stations.
The Aviator will also remember which weather station that you
were monitoring last.
User Friendly Operation
But don't be intimidated by these advanced features. The Yaesu
Aviator is also the most user friendly aviation transceiver.
Yaesu's unique "one touch" control knob makes accessing
the VFO, memory channels, weather channels and Book memories
as easy as pressing a button.

Audio
The Aviator was designed with noisy aircraft environments in
mind. The aviator provides loud undistorted audio through it's
internal speaker. Built in side tone will allow the user to
hear both transmitted and receive audio through an external
aviation headset. (headset adapter included) Backlit

Tough and rugged aren't the Aviator's only features. It also
boasts ultra compact size with styling and functions never seen
before in an avionics handheld. It's loud, clear audio, backlit
keypad and display, high contrast 8 character alpha-numeric
display and built in side tone are everything that today's private
pilot would want in a back up transceiver. Menu
Mode
The Aviator allows easy access to the Menu "set" mode.
Straightforward and intuitive, the Menu mode will allow you
to set the programming parameters for squelch, clearing memory
channels, scanning, scan lamp, keypad beep, battery saver function,
keypad and display backlighting, and priority channel check
time. Setting the more advanced features of an airband transceiver

Display Titling
Only the Aviator allows you one keystroke access to 3 different
methods of display titling : Frequency, Channel number (WX,
memory and Book memory) or Alpha-Numeric (memory and Book memory).
Dual
Watch and Priority Dual Watch
The Aviator allows you to scan between two active frequencies
(memory channel 1 and other frequency). When your Priority channel
becomes active, the receiver will revert to the priority channel
for operation. In the Priority Dual Watch mode, the Aviator
will revert to the priority channel any time PTT is pressed.
