Trafficscope TPAS VR
TrafficScope was designed to be the easiest to use collision
avoidance device available, without sacrificing function or
features.
*
The VR model includes all features of the VRX model but the
VR model does not report altitude
*
The budget priced VR model tracks
aircraft using relative range data only. It gives you accurate
ranging and trend information in a compact, portable, and extremely
low cost package.
Similar to VRX, VR smartly displays the most critical information.
In the place of relative altitude, VR users get a trend graph,
which allows an at-a-glance view of traffic proximity over time.

Fleable Detection Window and Smart Alerts
The most important job of any collision avoidance system is
to tell you what is a threat, and keep quiet about aircraft
that aren't a threat. An important distinction with TrafficScope
is the difference between traffic detection and traffic alerts.
TrafficScope will detect any aircraft in the detection window
you define. The unit will alert you when an aircraft in the
window becomes a threat you should be made aware of.
This is what the detection window looks like around your aircraft.
You can indepently set the range and altitude to whatever your
environment and personal preferences demand. For example, if
you are flying in a heavily congested area, you may want to
limit the range to 3, 2, or 1.5 NM. Likewise, you may limit
the altitude window to +/- 1500 or 500 ft. This will limit the
amount of detected aircraft, and the amount of traffic alerts.
Example
only. TrafficScope provides 12 different detection windows to
fit your needs.
The detection window, and various preferences, can be selected
through a series of simple menus. Access the menus by pressing
the menu button, the make your selection by pressing the up
or down key.
Menu 1: Graph Setting (VR)
Sets the
visual preferences of the trend graph.
Menu 2: Range Window Mode
Sets
the horizontal, or range, window limits. Also, the alert windows
are scaled down accordingly. For example, an aircraft that may
present a Traffic Advisory at 2 NM when this menu is set to
5.0 NM may not present a TA until 1 NM when this window is scaled
down to 3.0 NM.
Menu
3: Audio Delay Setting (VR)
Sets the unit mute for an extended period of time, after which
audio alerts return to normal. Visual alerts are not affected.
