Hand Painted Original Art Work On Aircraft Grade Aluminum 18x40"

Major Clarence E "Bud" Anderson
P-51D
Old Crow
Bud is a WWII Triple Ace who flew P-51 Mustang, Old Crow" while assigned to the 357 th Fighter Group "Yoxford Boys", 8th Air Force, Leiston Field, United Kingdom. The 357th Fighter Group was credited with shooting down 609 1/2 enemy aircraft in only 15 months, a pace no other fighter group equaled. The 37th also produced 42 Aces (pilots with five of more victories in the air), more than any other group. Bud was the leading Ace of the 363rd Fighter Squadron with 16 1/4 victories. At 80, Bud still flies a p-51, restored exactly as his "Old Crow" at air shows and other events, with lifelong friend and fellow 363rd Fighter Squadron member, General Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager. Bud's restored Mustang is graciously provided by owner and pilot, Mr. Jack Roush.

Nose Art gave identity, character, and humor to impersonal machinery in ways that a serial number never could. It made the members of the crew feel special, believing that their plane and their painting would bring them luck and get them safely home.
